Shoreline Re-Vegetation

The Itasca SWCD received a grant valid for 2006 and 2007 to provide cost share assistance to landowners who wish to restore some or all of their shoreline to native plant communities.  The grant allows the SWCD to assist landowners with up to 75% of the cost of their project with a maximum payment of $500.  The landowner, however can choose and is encouraged to spend as much as they want on their project above and beyond what is allowed for in the grant.  The grant specifies that to be eligible for payment the landowner must conduct their project according to a pre-approved plan which is then reviewed after planting by the SWCD staff.  Technical assistance by SWCD staff is required during the planning process and is provided free of charge.

Shoreline Stabilization

Cost share assistance may be available to landowners undergoing shoreline and stream bank stabilization and erosion control.  Examples of such projects are rock riprap and shoreline re-vegetation.  Check with our office to see whether you qualify for cost share money.  Even if cost share money is not available for your project, the SWCD can provide you with technical assistance.

Sustainable Forestry Initiative Act

SWCD staff can help you write and implement a forest stewardship plan for your property after which you may be eligible to receive incentive payments for the ongoing management of your property.  Click here to read more or contact our office for more information.

Well Sealing

Well sealing cost-share assistance is available for landowners who meet certain criteria defined by the State of Minnesota.  Contact our office for a list of criteria and to find out whether you are eligible for this program.

Low Interest Septic Loans

The Itasca SWCD helps administer the Agricultural Best Management Practices (AgBMP) Loan Program for septic system upgrades.  AgBMP loans provide low interest financing to landowners to implement practices that prevent or reduce nonpoint source pollution.  These loans are meant to encourage water quality protection throughout the District.  Please contact us for more information regarding the low interest septic loan program.
